Dr. S. S. Bhatia is Head of School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Apart from this he is a professor in the department of Mathematics at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, with 38 years of teaching experience across UG and PG levels. He holds an M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Mathematics from M.D. University, Rohtak, specializing in Functional Analysis, Fourier Analysis, Fixed Point Theory, Differential Geometry, and Reliability Theory. With 89 research publications in total in national and international journals, he has guided 16 scholars for their Ph.D. degree. He has successfully completed multiple UGC-funded major research projects. He is a life member of several professional societies including Punjab Academy of Sciences, Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and Indian Society of Technical Education. He has held key administrative positions including Head of department of Mathematics (2007-13), Dean of Academic Affairs (2014-2022), Controller of Examinations (2022-2025), and presently Head of school of Humanities and Social Science (2025-). His extensive contributions span academics, research, administration, and institutional development.
